With the Digital Guide 8×25 from Swarovski you can observe, capture and discover nature like never before. A unique combination between a monocular and a camera. This is truly unheard of. The dG enables you to learn more from nature and share it with your friends and/or family. This is the perfect addition to every hike.
This monocular has an elegant design. The dG namely feels perfect in hand. Due to the shape it doesn’t matter if you have large or small hands. Your hand will easily wrap around the pair. The optics are also as befits Swarovski. The optics namely provide an excellent balance of optical quality and technical performances.
## Analogue controls of the Swarovski Digital Guide.
Like every monocular, the Digital Guide is enhanced with a focus wheel, dioptric correction and adjustable ocular caps. Because of the adjustable ocular caps you can also use the Digital Guide while wearing (sun)glasses. The focus wheel is designed as such that when you hold the monocular, your finger will automatically fall on it. As such you can always quickly focus the monocular.
The camera and monocular are not connected to each other, but do need each other. As such the dioptric correction is extremely important. This is namely the reference of the autofocus in the camera. If the dioptric correction is not properly set, the images won’t be sharp, which is something you, of course, want to avoid.
## Swarovski Digital Guide: digital controls
There are, of course, major differences between a standard monocular and the dG. Namely, the digital aspect. To control the camera you use the large switch on top. This is the control switch. Hold it for a couple seconds and you turn the camera on and off.
Is the camera turned on and you want to take a picture? Briefly press the button. Because the autofocus needs time to respond, it will take approx. half a second to take the shot. This takes some getting used to, but you will soon get the hang of it.
Did the picture come out right? Open the app and identify a mammal or bird within seconds! Capture your observations and send the image to your smartphone or share it via the integrated wifi-hotspot. Which makes the dG even more unique, is the option for a livestream. As such your friends, family or colleagues can follow you live. No matter where you are!
This app is available for [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?idSWAROVSKI OPTIKu0026hlen) and [Apple](https://apps.apple.com/ae/developer/swarovski-optik-kg/id459058213).
A camera needs a battery. In general this battery will work for six hours at a time. To make sure you know how much time you have left, it comes with a battery indicator. It is located just above the control button. Press it once and you will immediately see the battery status. Even if you charge the device via a USB-C cable, you will see the current status. Do you see a flashing blue LED light? Don’t worry. Via the app the device receives automatic updates. This notification means that the binoculars are updated.
## Swarovski binoculars
According to Swarovski binoculars are only good when they are perfect. The optical quality is unparalleled. A crystal-clear image, amazing colour rendering without colour defects, a large field of view, amazing contrasts and a wide range of the dioptric correction. The goal for the Digital Guide is to combine the analogue and the digital and turn it into something spectacular. Swarovski was definitely able to do that!
