This Eden monocular is great if you want to benefit from superior image quality, with a compact size. Because you only have one lens and one ocular you save a lot of weight. And yet, with the 42 mm front lens you still have a better view at twilight than with compact 32 or 25 mm binoculars. In addition to its weight a monocular can also come in handy if you want to follow moving animals or other objects. With one eye you follow the subject. When you find the object you switch to the other eye and bring it closer with the monocular. This takes some getting used to but with normal binoculars you don’t have to look over the pair as much to keep a good overview.
## In a nutshell
A monocular is basically half a pair of binoculars. As such it is so small you can always keep it close. The Eden HD 8×42 monocular has a very bright and sharp image with a high edge sharpness. Thanks to the nitrogen filling it is suited for temperatures up to -20 degrees C.
## Optical qualities: bright, sharp and broad image
This monocular has been enhanced with top-quality optical elements you will often only find in much more expensive pairs.
The top-quality optics takes care of a very bright and clear image with a high edge sharpness (sharpness up to the edge of the image).
Brighter images because of the use of the di-electric coating on the prisms.
Remarkable about this monocular is the width of the field of view. This is at least 129 meters at 1000 meters of distance. Combined with the quick focus this ensures that you will quickly and easily find your target.
The monocular can be focused on objects closeby, up to approximately 1.2 meters! This is great if you want to study insects, for instance.
## Roof-prism binoculars: compact and gastight
The monocular is of the so-called roof prism type. A construction where the lenses are in line with each other. This makes the monocular narrower and ensures that the monocular is airtight. This is because there are no changes of volume when focusing. This compared to the so-called porro-prism binoculars where, while focusing, the outer dimensions of the pair change and the user might be inclined to suck in and blow out air.
## Nitrogen-filled: no condensation
During the manufacturing process the pair was filled with nitrogen. As a result the bins can be used up to approximately -20 ° C without being bothered by condensation.
## Great for spectacle wearers
The eye relief of 18mm and the decent ‘twist-up’ eye caps make these binoculars perfect for spectacle wearers.
## Eden price advantage!
Our monoculars are produced by a manufacturer who also produces for many other famous brands. However, it saves us a brand and a distributor in the sales chain which means that the bins are very affordable. As a result our monoculars are similar to binoculars that cost twice as much.
## Specifications
Prism glass: BAK-4
: The Zeiss twilight number indicates the suitability of binoculars for use at twilight. This is determined according to the formula: Root from (magnification x objective diameter)
## Please note
1: This number does not take into account the optical quality of the viewer although it is of great influence.
2: Sometimes the twilight index is listed as (objective / magnification) squared. This is not an accurate benchmark and the result cannot be compared to the Zeiss twilight number
